The Crow (2024)

So if you are here just to see if the remake is better than the original, let me save you the read, NO. See you later.

That said is it any good, well on the fence is the answer. If you look at this movie as a remake of the original then no, it’s bad, really bad and it craps on the original. The story keeps the crow, obviously, the love story and that’s about it. Our new “hero” is a bit pathetic moody yes, but no fighter which is a bit of a problem on an action movie. U like Brandon from the iconic original the new one Bill Skarsgard is just not up to the role, he doesn’t have the charisma the on screen presence to pull off this iconic role. The entire character of him and shelly simply don’t work. You don’t have that engagement we need to get into this made up world a drug addict felon escaping from a rehabilitation centre is not a good start

As for the bad guy in this we have Fanny Huston playing some sort of demon, I think, though that isn’t actually explained at all.

So the story, Shelly is a drug addict last freeloader who is engaged in “something” demonic that she is filmed going.. she is chased by a killer and to get away decides to bump onto some copy and get arrested cos it’s safe. She then ends up in rehab for, reasons. Where she meets and immediately falls for Eric who is in for..erm…no clue.

After a couple of days the baddies turn up looking for her and Eric decides then to show her the way out which be already had they flee to the city of all places. Where they spend pointless scenes partying . As we expect the bad guys find them and, well kill them as well bit hard to get a crow without dying.

So Eric is on limbo between worlds and meets someone, we never get to know who and is sent back to put things right. But this guy is hopeless and winey so dies again. He makes a deal and yadda yadda his life for hers back and we’re done.

Back again he doesn’t do well at fighting no big set scenes just getting shot allot and finding weird ways to decapitated bad guys.

End up with Eric and bad guy limbo…end…

The acting, is bad. The casting, is bad. The writing, is bad. The concept not to remake the original better with good action, bad.

Overall it’s just a b movie wrapped up in a better budget and allot of hype it didn’t deserve. And sorry to say it’s been left open for it’s own sequel which we have to hope due to the shockingly bad takings it doesn’t get.

As a stand alone movie, if your a goth then you might like it but that’s it.

Let’s hope this movie drops off mainstream fast it deserves to be put in the amazon catalogue next to the z list sci fi movies
